In a perfect world, lavish parties with gourmet cuisine, extravagant decorations and world-class entertainment would appear out of thin air for everyone to enjoy. No one would lose sleep over the color of the linens or stress about serving steak or chicken. But as the Swan Ball Committee Chairmen well know, this is not the case in the real world. The men and women who make the Swan Ball happen each year truly understand the meaning of hard work, which is why they deserved to kick back and relax a little before the big night. Lisa and Gaylon Lawrence hosted just such an event on the eve of Swan Ball at their amazing, newly renovated home.
In order to thank the vast number of folks who worked so diligently on this year’s main event, decadent cocktails and yummy cuisine were served at this poolside party. As guests entered the Lawrence’s home, they were greeted with Summer White Peach bellinis which quenched thirst and pleased the palate. As soon as the first drink was consumed, more summertime libations could be found at mirrored bars scattered throughout the party.
Kristen Winston did a fabulous job with the food, keeping it light yet satisfying. Waiters passed tuna and avocado tartare on sesame wonton crisps and warm tomato pesto and Fontina tartlets. Later in the evening, she served a gorgeous buffet dinner with mixed summer greens with strawberries, goat cheese and candied pecans and grilled jumbo shrimp with mango salsa. The food flawlessly complimented the laidback, tranquil vibe of the party with its bright flavors and fresh tastes.
With almost 18 months of hectic planning and organizing under their belts, the Committee Chairmen seriously needed this mellow fete to take a deep breath and enjoy themselves. The very next night would be the pinnacle of their efforts. And then what? With more excitement than ever, they will most likely start over and begin planning for next year. MM
