Nfocus reflects Nashville’s culture, its people and their generosity—both up and comers and long-time blue bloods, their passions and quirks. Nfocus readers are players, the people who make things happen in Nashville.
Nfocus debuted in November of 1993, a brainchild of founding editor and native Nashvillian, the late Herbert Fox. Herbert became a beloved figure on the social scene—his seventh career, after rehabbing a chateau in southern France (“I figured I could write anywhere”), working in New York’s fashion industry and serving as head writer for the long-running television show “Hee Haw.” His monthly column was often the first page readers turned to.
Now in its 18th year on the Nashville social scene, Nfocus has a nose for fine things, fun and philanthropy. The community’s leading citizens were its founding shareholders, and Nfocus has an insider’s view of the city’s finest homes and most charming people.
Miss the party? Nfocus will tell you exactly what it was like to be there—not just soup to nuts (anybody can read a menu), but what was the buzz and what were they wearing.
Nashville’s must-read magazine for natives and newcomers alike, Nfocus includes features no other publication can duplicate like Match Game (fit the wit with the words), a wine column by millionaire businessman and internationally recognized oenophile Tom Black and indelible party coverage with can’t-miss photography (no grip-and-grin shots here).
Plus, you'll find columns from some of Nashville's finest writers on topics from art and real estate to food and humor. We hope you enjoy the read and it provides you with an intimate look at the inner workings of Nashville society.
Cheers!
Ellen Nelson, Editor
To Nfocus readers, development officers and social planners:
Thank you for being such an integral part of Nfocus. It’s your sense of fun and commitment to philanthropy that makes the magazine such a delight to produce each month. Here are a few tips for getting your event covered by Nfocus, finding Nfocus and having your event included in Pencil N.
Send us an invitation! (210 12th Avenue S., Ste. 100, Nashville, TN 37203)
It not only tells us where to be and when to be there, it gives us a sense of the party and helps us to interpret the event to our readers. And lets us know whether it’s black-tie, for pete’s sake. Our first priority is highlighting major charity events. We occasionally crash private parties, but only when we have a fresh manicure.
